He doesn't even have rights to his songs anymore. Spotify is removing them at his request. It's like blocking 6 million Twitter followers who liked one joke you didn't.

He didn't have them before this, Warner Bros did. All that meant was he had to ask them to have the music removed.

I don't think a man like Neil Young would ever have sold off that kind of control over distribution rights. I'd believe you if we were talking about a musician who was a bit more.... you know... corporatised.

Look, obviously this is going to be more technical than either of us are really qualified to speak about, but the entire reason why Neil Young was so late to the party to be on Spotify in the first place was entirely because he was so skeptical of doing business with them even while his own people were trying to convince him that Spotify is the future.

He DEFINITELY maintains more control over distribution than you're giving him credit for.

He also removed a lot of his music from it years ago because he said the sound quality was shit.
