This is precisely why I joined a union.

I use to be in a union, but they shut out plant down to move it south. The new plant with their inexperienced underpaid employees screwed up the most important account and cost the company that billion dollar account.

Now the company I work for has excellent benefits, but the the company started by former emoyees is now paying way better to start than us and they are growing fast. If I wasn't looking at retirement in a couple of years, I would have left already as my company is still trying to avoid paying us more. (Our profits were way
up last year. I'm a stockholder so I get all the information they don't me to see.)

If you’re a stockholder in the company you work for and the company isn’t publicly-traded, that’s one thing. You’re still an active participant and beneficiary of your hard work.

My company started private, but has since been sold twice. My new corporate masters aren't bad, but left in charge the yahoos that ran the place before because of the money we were making. They never looked into the money we didn't earn because of their poor management skills (I had it pegged about 10 million a year). That was part of the reason former emoyees started a competing business that is now overtaking us. I purchased stock in the new parent company for it to be a crime to lie to me. It's nice to get the stuff they have to share with the shareholders. Us grunts would never be told otherwise.
