About Medicare COVID Vaccine Billing; I have a MEDICARE ADVANTAGE plan. Those are
PRIVATE INSURERS that SUBSTITUTE for Medicare.
The MA plan pays INSTEAD of Medicare paying.
MA PLANS send a CLAIMS MADE / PAID report
monthly.
MEDICARE, NOT my Plan, sent a Claims Made /
Paid report showing a claim from Randalls
Food and Drugs, LP in LOS ANGELES for "injection
of acute respiratory syndrome [SOMETHING]".
-- I didn't pay attention to the "something" part.
My reaction was "IDENTITY THEFT!! I'm the ONLY
person in the U.S. with my name, I've never been
to LA or ANY Randalls. I did NOT get an RSV shot!"
When I examined closer I noticed [SOMETHING]
was "coronavi". The injection was on the date I
got my BOOSTER. It had nothing to do with RSV.
I normally go to CVS but I got THAT shot at a Tom
Thumb grocery store--which is owned by Randalls.
I had given the Tom Thumb pharmacist my MA
info but Randalls billed Medicare instead. So--if Medicare sends you a COVID vaccine Claims
Paid Report, don't assume identity theft. Reread
the Report carefully.
