So, in order for satellites to be used in this situation, is if there is a SAT enabled device on the island. What is the likelyhood that a SAT phone survived the tsunami? What is the likelyhood the fishing villages even had a device? Derp.
So, unless you can guarentee that there IS A SAT PHONE on the island, your challenge has been met!
