You learn typically how much of a piece of shit the average person is, and how cowardly your parents are by extension, when f**ked-up things happen at school and your parents either shrug it off, like most do, or actually do something, which is an extreme rarity in our epidemic of cowardly parents - I guess that's useful, maybe?
