Sloth has picked his side in this scandal. | MY RESPONSE TO SLOTH; WHO HAS LEGIT SIDED WITH SURLY AND OP; FIRSTLY I NEVER SAID I WANTED TO
OUTRIGHT BAN CONSTITUTIONS AND
THAT’S BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO DO
THAT. SECONDLY MY POINT WAS THAT
I DON’T LIKE HOW WE ALWAYS
CHANGE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM OF
GOVERNMENT EVERY TIME WE HAVE
ANN ELECTION. I WAS PROPOSING
WE HAVE A CONSTITUTION THAT’S

You said a few things:

1. You don’t like new constitutions being passed every time a new government takes power;
2. An old constitution that purported to bind successors is “tyrannical”;
3. You want to pass a new constitution now that you’re in power.

On their own, none of these statements is objectionable! Sounds pretty reasonable!

But read them alongside each other and it’s a confused mess at best, hypocrisy at worst.

Pick a lane — Which of these 3 things are you most concerned about?

Other than the provision on constitutional durability, which is standard for constitutions, what are your substantial beefs with the old one — other than the fact it gets in your way, which again, is kind of the point of Constitutions?

The fact it was written by one guy (Olympian). that he snuck in a blatant power grab that attempted to ban all future constitutions, and that he twisted F1Fan’s original Senate idea into this pointless extra chamber he attempted to run last term, even when it didn’t exist.

That’s what a Constitution is. No Constitution in the world that I’m aware of sets an expiration date for itself.

What are your specific problems with the current Constitution?

Can you address them through an amendment process rather than throwing out the whole thing — which after all isn’t a a very “conservative” thing to do?

What? I already named my issues with it and I’m fed up of repeating myself.

And since I don’t like how constitutions keep being written by one person I decided to would be best to start from scratch and involve the whole community in a collaborative project where anyone and everyone can participate and offer ideas.
