So companies should be worried because it's your opinion that you can affect their sales?

Yes... That is the point of a company after all- if you lose customers, you lose sales, and thus lose money.

Yeah. If.

But they don't, though.

I've said this before elsewhere: if you're ever at a point where the Salvation Army is too woke for you, it's really just you. They're basically the charity that conservatives like for being the last people to pander to progressivism. Progressives have been trying to get a boycott of them going for a lot longer than you have.

That is very, very far from the point. The point is that if a company makes a decision that it's consumers don't like, they're going to lose money.

It's not, at all. The Salvation Army have been under pressure to drop their discriminatory practices for some time now, you don't get to swoop in and take credit just because you found a reason to pick a fight with them now.

Coca Cola never cared that you complained about them. Nike never cared. The NFL didn't care. Kellog's didn't care. At some point, you really have to wonder if you have any consumer leverage at all.

I never took any "credit" for anything. I was simply using them as an example.

Actually we, the consumers, hold the ultimate power. That's the very nature of a capitalist system. Every dollar you spend is essentially a vote in favor of the company, every dollar rescinded is a vote rescinded. You, me, and everyone else holds the proverbial gavel for companies. Of course, companies find ways to work around this, usually outsourcing to China, or striking deals with other companies.

Yeah, but you're not "the consumers", are you? You're one consumer. And your right wing buddies are some consumers. But together, you don't act in a big enough block to even make a dent in the sales charts. I haven't once seen one boycott of the American ultraconservatives make a difference in any company's revenue in my entire life.

Any company that panders to such a small block among their consumers is making a huge mistake.

And sure, that must be frustrating, but there IS a lesson in there about just how fringe you actually are.

Just as I suspected. You still don't understand.

Sigh.

You know what? It's pointless arguing with you, as no matter how I rephrase it so you could understand, you don't get it. Antithesis, please, try to understand where I'm coming from. Please.

Oh, no, don't get me wrong, I understand exactly where you're coming from. You're coming from a massive overestimation of yourself and your commercial leverage.

Companies WOULD be mistaken to ignore your opinions IF you had the impact you're describing. But you don't, so they aren't.
