62 GRAIN BULLET 125 GRAIN BULLET | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Yeah, that would be fine for deer since 300 AAC is a .308 caliber bullet. You could get a decent bullet weight.
Most .223 caliber bullets are just too light for caribou.

Noice!
I really prefer much heavier bullets for deer. 100-200 grains. But if you can get a good shot, right on target, anything will do the job.

A moose? They're pretty big. I'd almost want a even bigger bullet for one of them.
But .308 would be fine for reindeer.

It was my first large rifle, my dad got it for my moose hunt. I was drawn for a moose tag in 2019, it was a year old male, with fuzzy nubs, they were quick shots and he ran about 300 yards away from the logging road we were hunting on, through a nasty cut. (That means where they clear cut a small section) After 2 shots, he was still breathing, but downed. So I shot him point blank in the base of the skull. smoke came out of his mouth and nose, and when we looked, we saw part of his brain was in his ears. We had to piece him out and hike back, the cut had turned into a bog in the low spots with a bunch of hidden holes because of the brush. It was REAL fun. we were up in Caribou, Maine.

Nice.

Also, a .308 is fine, you don't wat to big of a bullet, or else it wrecks to much meat. You just have to place your shots just right.

I'd want more power for moose, due to body mass. Say .300 WM.
Same bullet diameter, but a little bit heavier bullet and alot faster.
But like you said, it doesn't matter if your shot placement is right.

I guarantee it. But I don't like underpowered ammo. If I wanna kill an animal, I wanna kill it, I don't wanna wound it and have it bleed out the next day.
22lr has about 150 lb/ft of energy. Compared to the most common deer rifle caliber 30-30, which has around 1800 lb/ft, 22 is just not impressive. It would require a brain or spine shot to bring a deer down immediately.

All true, but the main reason for using a 22lr for deer hunting is stealth. If you've ever been poor, (ie: no food poor) then you'll understand.also I would go for the eye, the bone behind it has a hole in it.

Yeah, you could hunt a deer outta season with a 22 lr without alerting anyone, since 22's sound like firecrackers. But I really like bigger bullets. Always have.

Fair enough. In legal hunting scenarios, I prefer my Mauser 8mm. Makes them drop like right now and is without question, far more humane. (A 22lr to the brain doesnt always render the animal unconcious.)
