WOULD A TRULY CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION CLAIM WE DON’T NEED CHRIST? [2 of 3] Does the religion of Christian Science rely on Christ and His Word in the Bible? No. The writings of founder Mary Baker Eddy are the source of authority for this false faith, and here is an example of her anti-biblical and anti-Christian teachings: "Since sin and death are false beliefs, to achieve salvation, the Christian Scientist needs only to find the true reality of understanding, as revealed in Christian Science teachings." She is claiming that sin—and even death—are false beliefs and illusions; therefore, salvation involves overcoming our wrong thinking. With the “realization of our divine spirit” in mind, they say we must acknowledge and commit to
the idea that sin and death do not exist. According to Mary Baker Eddy, salvation has nothing to do with Christ (our Savior and the reason we have Christianity), and there is no sin (the situation Christ saved us from). According to Eddy’s anti-biblical teachings—that today’s Christian Science reveres above the Bible—salvation has nothing to do with death. But the Bible tells us the “wages of sin is death,” and that's why Jesus needed to come and save us. Eddy’s blasphemous version of salvation claims we attain our own salvation when we agree with her, believing sin and death are not real. So, her ideas are completely contrary to the Bible. Knowing even that little bit about Eddy’s teachings,
you can already see how misleading it is for the false religion of
Christian Science to use “Christian” in their name.
