Usually 1.5 hours tops. Sometimes 45 minutes. I always get each family a small gift bag with an ornament, with a gift card for a date night for the parents, $20 for each kid, then assorted candies like Ghirardelli and Lindor chocolates, some candy canes.
Then I get my daughter random stuff she wants or lets me know about or money.
