The thing about Jehovah’s Witnesses is that you can be kicked out of your entire family just for leaving the faith. I’m not sure about Catholicism though.
Just can't do mass with Catholics. Still can attend church. Don't remember the last time someone(famous or not) was fully excommunicated from the Catholics.
