I drink water as well and I can recommend it to everyone, because kidneys clean a lot of blood and put out at least half a liter of water into the bladder overnight, so you definitely need to rehydrate yourself. Coffee won't do that, and you'd need to drink more milk to hydrate than if you drank water. Tea is a good alternative if you don't put too much sugar/honey in it.
