I don't deny we have our problems. But I don't think it's because people are free. We've been a Democratic Representative Republic for 240 years and for the vast majority of that time we have prospered as a nation. It's because there's a pernicious Leftist philosophy which has crept into the minds of some people who are citizens, but hate our country. I wish I knew what the solution was, but we are a strong and resilient people. But the answer is not jailing people who don't follow the party line. You guys are still recovering from communism and will be for a long time.
