Because corn and potatoes are 'fuel' for living beings not inanimate objects.

Anything you can make alcohol out of can be used for fuel , it would be a boon to farming industry .

We shouldn't be burning the food God provides us...

It is so right it's a crime that we aren't . If our Government insists on buying oil from enemy foreign Governments , that makes it worse

Already there have been corn shortages for human food and animal feeds. To use the massive amount to make fuel necessary to replace fossil fuels is not a viable alternative. Our farmers already feed most of the world's hungry. To make more fuel would take that away.
