While 5x6 does equal 30, 2+3x6 does not; it equals 20. You would know that if you actually paid attention to facts while still in school. Mathematical equations are always calculated based on Order of Operations - BEDMAS / PEMDAS - not strictly from left to right. The foregoing equation is the same as saying 2+(3x6). Bracketed numbers, exponents, multiplications & divisions are always calculated before addition and subtraction, hence where the acronym BEDMAS gets it name.

Is that the new math ? That's 1+1=11 . Yes order of operations , two plus three equals five , times 6 equals thirty . You just played yourself !

Comprehending basic facts is definitely NOT your forte. Mathematical "Order of Operations" have been in existance for well over 100 years with multiplication calculations ALWAYS preceding additions. As such, the 3x6 = 18 is calculated before adding the 2 to the total = 20. Don't take my word for it though, any google search will tell you the same thing.
