No, the increased gas prices are the result of a lack of truckers because of the pandemic. In that, the pandemic has put many businesses out of work, some of them being shipping companies. There have also been backlogs of shipping because there are less workers to receive shipments at our importing ports. As such, since our incoming imports are being processed more slowly, our reduced interstate shipping capacity, this creates an increased demand for products because their supply is diminished.
So, you're wrong on both counts. If only the pandemic was handled properly.
