To clarify: Personally, I don’t really care that it’s not from Japan. Genshin has the same style as other weeaboo games like Touhou, so it’s still anime. For example, if Genshin or Azur Lane were posted on the AAA’s main stream, they would be removed, even if the image poster stated they were technically Chinese. The country of origin doesn’t matter, we don’t discriminate against anime simply because it’s Japanese, but because of the massive problems with it, its producers, and its fans. The same applies to Korean “webtoons” in anime style. But this is just the AAA’s perspective on the matter, the AGA might have different definitions of what is and isn’t anime.
P.S. I personally think Avatar: The Last Airbender is anime too but since that’s disputed, it’s not officially banned by the AAA.
