how do I get the url to his meme so I can make this a template?

Ok, basically follow these steps:
　• Go to “My Templates”
　• Go to the template you want to grab the link from
　• Press “Caption this Meme”
　• Copy the URL inside the search bar
　• Paste it on your template’s image you posted to this stream

This link should help you if you followed these instructions clear enough. Even though it doesn’t have captions, it should still serve as a guide if, aforementioned, you followed the instructions.

but it isn't a template yet

Save it as an image, make a new meme, press “Upload new template”, choose the image you just saved, “Allow template to be shared publicly”, give it a name, then press “Upload”.
Then follow the instructions
