Don't let this distract you from the fact in 1655, a black plantation owner in the Virginia colony, Anthony Johnson, sued John Casor, a black indentured servant, in order to keep him as a slave for life in accordance to Angolan cultural law. On March 8, 1655, under pressure by the local liberals to be "inclusive" and "tolerant" of foreign cultures, the Supreme Court ruled against Mr. Casor, who became the first slave in America. Later, this practice spread and grew, becoming the US Slavery Era.
