First of all survival rate is almost meaningless. “Survival rate” of anything takes into account the entire population vs just those “affected” by the thing you’re calculating “survival rate” of.

For instance currently this year the survival rate of jumping off the Empire State building is 100%. That is because no one has jumped off the Empire State building and died. In fact no one has jumped off the Empire State building. However if someone did jump off the Empire State building the “death rate“ of such an action is basically a 100% as well. In this case the death rate of Covid is about 2% meaning of those who contract a virus 2% of them die. The survival rate takes into account all of the population who have not had Covid. So the survival rate of covid takes into account everyone (infected or not) as opposed to just those infected by Covid. 2% death rate is extraordinarily high for a virus considering flu is about .2% so covid it 10 times more deadly than the flu.

The reason we need various vaccines and boosters is because all vaccines basically require different versions from different manufacturers for the market and boosters are very common for many many different vaccines. Your immune system may not learn so to speak with one shot or possibly even two shots it may require more times for your immune system to “learn“ exactly which proteins or virus or antigen or contagion it’s looking for in order to defeat it naturally on its own the next time.

Also- 99.7% of 330,000,000 (US population) is 329,000,000. Meaning about 1 million people would be dead from COVID. Not a small number, Regardless. And that’s counting those that got vaccinated which will increase the survival rate.
