Well, kinda, the T-72s that has the bad rep were the downgraded export variants of the main Soviet variants (T-72M1, downgrade of the T-72A, T-72M-E, downgrade of the T-72 Ural, etc), so it's not exactly the T-72A that had the bad reputation, but still the exports were pretty bad, they had more simplified FCS (fire control system) so they didn't have as much fire on the move capability that the original Soviet variants have, they also still relied on coincidental optical rangefinders, which is more primitive and can only be used at the bestest of conditions, some do have laser rangefinders, but they're complicated to use and wouldn't be effective at bad weather, however the reason that they were bad was not due to their FCS system though, it has more to do with the crew training and the fact that the opponent they're facing were about a decade ahead of them, so their tactics and equipment we're far outdated by the time they faced their opponent, i.e the Abrams, Challenger, etc
