Let's go over the facts we know;
The scene in question did not require Alec to pull the trigger.
Alec was in no danger and did not need to protect himself.
There was a live round in the gun after Alec checked it to make sure the gun was safe.
Alec pointed the gun at the woman.
Alec pulled the hammer back on the single a ton revolver (the movie takes place in the 1880s so it is safe to assume the gun in single action)
Alec pulled the trigger while pointing at the woman.
Do you refute any of this? Why should we give him the grace to assume that this was an accident and not a murder?
For it to be an accident we would have to assume so many things;
The armorer made a mistake and accidentally gave Alec a loaded weapon.
The assistant director who checked the gun made a mistake and did not realize the gun was loaded.
Alec himself checked the gun and did not realize it was loaded.
Alec pointed the gun at someone on the set (this is seriously against protocols as even a blank gun has the power to kill someone, you never point a gun at someone you don't want to harm).
Alec accidentally pulled the trigger while pointing it at his friend.
It foes not seem like it should be our default position to assume that 5vaccidents could happen like this. I am interested to see how the investigation goes, but we all know that Alec can afford much more justice than the rest of us.
