i have a pokemon theory:; the pokemon universe is just an alternate universe where pokemon card trading became so popular it became an international sport and got even more popular than chess is in our world; and ash is delusional and thinks that pokemon are actually real, and is hallucinating. It would explain why he never ages, because he could be so delusional he still thinks of himself as a child, and hallucinates accordingly
