I think I would choose them a gender neutral name. And call them by their birth sex. But if they decide they are trans or non binary etc then I would happily call them whatever they want.

There was this couple that never told anyone their childs birth gender and their name was gender neutral and they referred to their child as they/them until the child was old enough to say they liked he/him pronouns.
