DID YOU KNOW: The firearm that Alec Baldwin mishandled was a Pietta 45 Long Colt Revolver manufactured in 1966. Since 1915, all revolvers have been manufactured with either a transfer bar safety or a hammer block safety. Both types of safety are designed to prevent the firearm from discharging unless the trigger is pulled. Thus, you cannot lower the hammer and accidentally discharge the firearm, drop the firearm and accidentally discharge it, or any other airy-fairy Evil Spirit theory of firearm accidental discharge.
Alec Baldwin just got on national television and tearfully told you, people, a pack of lies.
