Please don’t respond if you haven’t played Undertale

(This is one of the other two Undertale OCs I made along with Carrie)

Emerald: "...oh, dear."

*Emerald sits next to the girl, lifts her head up, and rests it on her lap.*

“The barrier. . .it’s still sealed, isn’t it?”

Emerald: "...the barrier? I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about..."

“You haven’t heard?”

Emerald: "No...?"

“The barrier sealed us all and trapped us down here. . .”

Emerald: "...oh my... I guess that happened after the war..? I had already been brought to the Arena by then..."

“I was dead. . .for so long. . .” She sobs

Emerald: "There, there... here, you can cry into my shoulder."

*Emerald hugs the girl.*

She hugs her tightly and sobs

(Would she by chance have any relations to undyne?

(She's a distant cousin)

Emerald: "...what's your name? I'm Emerald."

“I suppose.”

Emerald: "...or perhaps... you could teach me about this place? I'm afraid I know very little."

“Ah, of course. I’ll tell you what I remember.”

Emerald: "Thank you!"

*Emerald beams.*

“Where are we now?”

Emerald: "...what do you mean by that?"

“What location- so i can go from here.”

Emerald: "I believe we're on the outskirts of Waterfall."

“So should we head to snowdin, then?”

Emerald: "Sure... though I don't do the best in the cold..."

Marigold wraps her in a magical blanket of flowers- it doesn’t look like it’s very warm, but it is.

“There- better?”

Emerald: "Oh, this is amazing! Thank you!"

*Emerald gives Marigold a hug.*

She hugs back- “of course.”

Emerald: "Now, let's go."

“Mhm.” They start off to snowdin

*About five minutes later, they're already in Snowdin Town.*

Marigold looks chilly, but she shoves it down- “here we are.”

*Emerald glances at Marigold. She adjusts the blanket so that it wraps around both of them.*

Marigold smiles bittersweetly- “the magic doesn’t work on me. I’ll be alright.”

Emerald: "Oh, alright then..."

*Emerald puts the blanket back on herself.*

“H-hm?” She slowly blinks awake

Emerald: "Good morning! I made you breakfast."

“Oh, how nice.”

Emerald: "I hope you like it, I made it just for you."

*...it's starting to become clear that food is Emerald's love language.*

*however, oblivious marigold takes it as a platonic gesture*

“Thank you.’

Emerald: "You're welcome. Oh, and if you want to change into something else, I think some of my old stuff might fit you. It's in the closet."

“It’s alright, i think I’m dressed fine.”

Emerald: "I think you look great, I was just making sure in case you felt the need."

*Emerald leaves Marigold to her breakfast and starts reading a book.*

She finishes and just twirls her hair and talks to herself

*Eventually Emerald puts the book down.*

Emerald: "So, are we gonna look for your family today?"

Undyne: “f**k it’s dark in here- is your electricity ok, alphys?”

Alphys: "Y-yeah... but it's mostly diverted to s-something else..."

*Alphys leads Undyne through the halls, avoiding the Amalgamates, until she reaches the Determination Extractor.*

Undyne lets Emerald walk by herself and keeps marigold away from the amalgamated

Emerald: "This place is... familiar..."

*There's a small bed under the DT Extractor.*

Alphys: "L-lay her on the bed..."

Undyne carefully sets marigold onto it

undyne: “i can’t say i fully trust this weirdo setup ya got here.”

Alphys: "Y-you're g-gonna have to..."

*Alphys sets the machine to reverse and activates it. It starts injecting Determination into Marigold little by little.*

Undyne steers clear of it

Alphys: "...hopefully that works..."

*Emerald looks very nervous.*

Marigolds very soul begins glowing

Emerald: "Uhh... is that supposed to happen?"

Alphys: "I d-don't know! I've n-never done this on a h-human before!"

“I’m sorry. . .”

Emerald: "It's f-fine... it's not your fault..."

Alphys: "It's not like we've ever wanted to save a human's life before!"

before she can reply to that, the golden [heart shaped object] flies out of marigold’s chest and starts zipping around the room

Emerald: "What's going on?!?!?"

Undyne: “alphys! Explain!”

Alphys: "I... erm... I... maybe her SOUL can't take Determination that comes from other SOULs? I'm not sure..."

(Lemme explain rq: her soul can’t take that much determination, and when it does, it thinks it can just be it’s own thing without Marigold’s body

*Emerald just up and hops onto the DT Extractor and starts using it like a turret to try and extract some of the Determination from Marigold's SOUL, because that will at least make her not be doing this, even if it doesn't help.*

The soul discouragedly floats back down

Emerald: "...that was... weird."

The maiden is sprawled out among the flowers, no sign of physical injury, but a pained face.

*Emerald strokes the girl's hair, murmuring.*

Emerald: "...what happened to you, fair maiden? I know you can't answer, but... can you tell me?"

In her stagnant hand, resting on her chest, is the stem of a flower

*Emerald examines the flower stem.*

Emerald: "...I studied plants, I should know what this is..."

The top appears to have been bitten off, and the stem resembles the flowers surrounding her- buttercups.

Emerald: "Oh no... these... these are poisonous..."

*Emerald digs through her pockets and pulls out a small vial, some kind of antidote according to its label. She opens the girl's mouth and forces her to drink a few drops of it.*

Her breathing suddenly gets rapid, and she wakes up with a jolt, in a cold sweat.
“Wh-what happened!?”

Emerald: "...c-calm down... I think you might have ingested some buttercups..."

“Oh, cheese and rice- i suppose it didn’t work.”

Emerald: "W-what didn't work?"

She sips her drink- “you know, I’ve heard there’s a kind of fluffy tree that smells like this drink.”

Emerald: "A fluffy tree? Sounds mystical."

“Yeah.”

Emerald: "...You know, I kinda wish I'd forgotten almost everything like you... I'd rather not remember my past."

“I would say the same thing, but if i remembered nothing, or worse only good things, i would think i was all perfect and treat everyone awful.”

Emerald: "...I guess that's true..."

“Mhm.”

Emerald: "Thanks for that. It gives me a bit of a new perspective."

“I’d certainly hope so.” -sip-

*Emerald offers some of her fries to Marigold.*

“Do you think she’s still alive-?”

Emerald: "Yeah, she's probably just staying at a friend's place now. I'll call her later."

“Alright.”

Emerald: "...you got anything that can keep me cool? Next up is that fiery place..."

“Oh, cheese- I’m sorry, I’ve never really been to Hotland.”

Emerald: "It's fine. Let's head back to my place, then."

“A-alright.”

Emerald: "...you seem a little tired. I can carry you back if you want."

“No, it’s fine, i can walk.”

Emerald: "...alright then."

*Emerald begins the walk home.*

“Oh, it’s lovely.”

(So we’re just shipping Marigold with everyone now? XD

(Basically, though we won't ship her with Yellow [the third member of the trio, and a human])

Emerald: "Thank you! My cousin Undyne helped me build it."

(I see)

“Oh, undyne! I’ve heard of her. I think she’s in the royal guard.”

Emerald: "Yeah, she's the captain of the guard!"

“Impressive! I’ve never met her, but i bet she’s cool.”

Emerald: "She is, though she's got some anger issues. But anyhow, sit down! Let me make you something to eat."

“Alright.”

((Fingers crossed Emerald doesn’t cook like undyne

*Emerald cooks with impressive skill- seems her potion-making talent has rubbed off on her cooking. She makes a nice tomato basil soup and gives it to Marigold along with a soda.*

Marigold eats ravenously- it seems she hasn’t eaten in a while

*Emerald refills Marigold's bowl whenever she empties it. She seems very pleased that her cooking is being enjoyed.*

Emerald: "How is it?"

(Nice)

“I-I’m Marigold.”

Emerald: "That's a very pretty name. Now, uhh... do you have somewhere to stay? I can walk you there..."

“I suppose my family misses me. . .but i can’t seem to recall the name of our residence.”

Emerald: "Who's your family?"

“My memory is so foggy. . .but I distinctly remember white fur.”

Emerald: "...I don't know anyone with white fur... but you can stay at my place for now. We can look for your family while you try to remember more!"

Marigold: “thank you.”

Emerald: "No problem, Now, c'mon."

*Emerald gets up and offers a hand to help Marigold up.*

She stands up and follows her

*Emerald leads Marigold to her home, a small stone cottage on the outskirts of Waterfall.*

“. . .no. I’m not. It’s my fault the barrier and the tension between humans and monsters is there.”

Emerald: "I don't care about what happened in the past. I care about the you I know. And the you I know is perfect."

“. . .thank you.” She smiles

Emerald: "Of course."

*Emerald smiles. She hugs Marigold.*

Marigold hugs back

Emerald: "...heh... now, I'm gonna get started on dinner, it'll take a little while... but if you need ANYTHING, anything at all, don't hesitate to ask."

(This meal will be important because it's symbolic)

“Thank you.”

(I’ll pay attention

*After a while, Emerald places dinner on the table. It's a fancy Italian meal, served with pomegranate juice and dark chocolate for dessert.*

Emerald: "...I hope you enjoy."

“Thank you.” -smile-

Emerald: "But of course. Anything for my only friend."

She didn’t want Emerald to have to carry her again. After all, she already carried her when she was sick. Marigold did however hold her hand.

*Emerald smiles.*

Marigold smiles back

*Once the duo reaches Emerald's house, she lets go of Marigold's hand to hold the door open for her.*

Marigold enters

*Emerald follows.*

Emerald: "...all that exercise has made your face look even prettier than it was before."

“Wha- h-hey-“ she blushes

Emerald: "Eheh... did that make you uncomfortable? Sorry."

“Nono, I’m just not used to it.”

Emerald: "How? You're super nice and very pretty, it's a shame you don't often get compliments."

“The thing is, I’m not around many people.”

Emerald: "Ah, I can understand that..."

“Yeah. . .”

Emerald: "But hey, at least you've got me!"

*Emerald smiles.*

Marigold: “it’s lovely to have you as my cr-. . .friend.”

*Emerald raises an eyebrow but doesn't acknowledge it further.*

Emerald: "It's lovely to have you as my friend, too."

She smiles

Emerald: "...it's especially nice since you're the only friend I have currently... and you're perfect."

“I-I’m what?” She blushes

Emerald: "...you're perfect. You're super kind and sweet and funny and... well, you get the picture."

It seems she won’t wake for a while.

*Emerald struggles to do so, but carries Marigold back to the bedroom and lays her on the bed.

It suddenly strikes her- what if she did not wake?

*Emerald pulls out her phone and calls Undyne. She explains the situation. Moments later Undyne breaks down the door, grabs both of them, and goes all the way to Alphys' lab.*

(So i assume i need to be alphys? Because i really don’t wanna be alphys.

(If you're feeling edgy you can take over as Undyne)

(Sweet)

Undyne tries to kick open the lab door- it doesn’t budge, but she guesses that’s a good enough knock

*Alphys opens the door.*

Alphys: "O-oh, U-Undyne! I didn't e-expect to see you h-here..."

Undyne gestures with her head in reference to her speech- “this one is my cousin and she doesn’t want this one to die, but this one is about to kick the bucket. FIX IT.”

Alphys: "U-umm... I d-didn't want to show you this, but c-come on..."

*Alphys opens the elevator to the True Lab.*

“Delicious.”

Emerald: "Thanks! I'm glad you like it."

*Emerald doesn't seem that hungry herself- she just has one small bowl of soup.*

Marigold eats till she’s full

Emerald: "Since you'll probably be here for a little while, you can sleep in my bed. I'll sleep on my couch."

“Nono, i can take the couch, it’s fine.”

Emerald: "Alright... if you're sure..."

*Emerald gets up and goes to her closet. She pulls out a blanket and a pillow and sets them up on the couch.*

Marigold lays down and falls asleep almost immediately

*Emerald tucks Marigold in. She strokes her hair for a moment, then smiles.*

Emerald: "Sleep well, fair maiden..."

(yep, that's Marigold's pet name in this ship)

(Marigold is just someone so easy to pet name)

-the next morning-

*Emerald wakes up early and makes a plate of eggs for Marigold. She sets it on the table, then gently shoves Marigold's shoulder to wake her up.*

-she eats-

*From the amazing taste of the food, Marigold can tell it was made with lots of love.*

She can’t help from smiling- why must everyone she meet fall in love with her?

Emerald: "...I assume you understand what this meal means... and if you don't reciprocate I totally understand."

“. . . .everyone falls in love with me, emerald. The truth is- I’m in love with my own brother.” She looks down, ashamed.

Emerald: "...please tell me this is either your stepbrother or adoptive brother..."

“A-adoptive.”

Emerald: "Oh good. Well, anyways... I dunno how to help you."

“You don’t need to help me, emerald. I’m just sorry i keep breaking hearts for something so vile.”

Emerald: "Don't worry, mine's not broken... just cracked. But I'll be fine."

*Emerald smiles halfheartedly.*

They return to the waterfall- marigold knows every twist and turn of the maze

Emerald: "We should stop by my cousin's place while we're here."

“Good idea.”

Emerald: "It's at the quiet water, could you lead us there?"

“Sure.”

Emerald: "Thanks."

-they get to undynes house-

(Sounds like only fire lives here now.)

Emerald: "...oh my."

“That’s certainly unfortunate.”

Emerald: "...guess that's off the table."

-they look around. Marigold tells her what she faintly recalls of the place.-

Emerald: "...let's go in that restaurant before we talk more, so you don't freeze."

*Emerald leads Marigold into Grillby's.*

“Ah, i remember this place- it has a distinct smell.”

Emerald: "...it smells like burnt food mixed with wet dog."

“Exactly.”

*Emerald sits at a table in the corner.*

Emerald: "I hope our little walk jogged your memory a bit."

“It did, i think.” She sits next to her

Emerald: "Oh, good!"

She gets what she usually gets- butterfly milk

(Because f*ck you that’s an item i made up and it’s gonna be a thing now)

*Emerald just orders some fries.*

Undyne: “. . .she’s still dead.’

*Emerald injects a teeny tiny bit of Determination into Marigold's SOUL.*

It glows, but it stays put- marigold wakes with a jolt

*Emerald falls off the turret, gets up, and stares at Marigold.*

Emerald: "Oh my god are you okay?"

“What happened? Who are you people?”

Emerald: "Y-you don't remember..?"

“I only remember eating that flower and then passing out.”

Emerald: "...great, she's forgotten everything since when I met her."
