Anarchism stemmed from communism began with Mikhail Bakunin with anarcho-collectivism, then was developed into anarcho-communism by Peter Kropotkin. This is easily the most popular anarchist school of thought. Notable proponents were Alexander Berkman, Emma Goldman and Nestor Makhno (who lead a revolutionary army against the Bolsheviks to defend a large anarchist territory in Ukraine where 7 million people lived).
