2. New covid case waves generally last a few months. The wave of covid deaths often mirrors the wave of covid cases, offset by a couple weeks. This is because people who die from covid usually do not instantly die when they catch it. If the wave of new covid cases begins declining, the covid deaths also begin declining a couple weeks later.. exactly what you see happening there.
