Lincoln didn't mind freeing the slaves, but he also wanted to keep the South, so he didn't want to do it unless the South was going to leave, which happened, so eventually he did
he didnt do that lincoln went to war with the south bc they wanted to have there own country and do what they want with the slaves and he even let african americans serve in his army in the last year
