I can think of nothing more democratic or capitalist than so called cancel culture. That doesn't mean I agree with every time someone has been canceled any more than I agree with how people vote. Both sides have been on the receiving end, and it isn't new. The only new part is the ability of people to connect online to realize that they aren't the only ones unhappy with something. That and the fact that is now called cancel culture instead of black listing or boycotting.
