my little Star Wars rant for today

my little Star Wars rant for today | No, it was not George Lucas who said any of those things. It was Marcia Lucas, his ex-wife. George wouldn't be allowed to say anything about the sequel trilogy because of the contract he's locked in. Stop putting George Lucas in your thumbnail, and don't just put "Lucas." It was MARCIA LUCAS. Now, depending on what she said is irrelevant. The point is you are trying to gain views from making people think it was George who said that. | image tagged in memes, han solo | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

to be fair, yes in these situations he did lie, but looking at his older videos on the sequel trilogy, most of that was right.

nobody curses for "no reason".
the main point is that people were asking for proof of you cussing out on people.
and I went and found it.

Can you imagine if George Lucas's last words on his death bed was "THE SEQUEL TRILOGY SUCKS"? That would be priceless.... and also sad because George Lucas died.

It's kinda hard not to have confirmation bias in things like this. I mean, the hate train is popular. Donno why. It's easy I guess, gives people a chance to feel better about themselves as they can criticize something thinking that they're some kind of connoisseur. The movies get a lot of hate. Were they great movies? Absolutely. Were they great Skywalker movies... Eh. Mediocre. It gave closure. People didn't want that. They wanted the skywalker-high again.
It's really sad though, that people just want cheap thrills. I mean, any star wars movie that speaks to women's independence is hated by a faction of the fandom.
Don't try to say Jyn Erso, she ended up being the guy's affection. Remember Solo? Droid was talking about equal rights, though it came off as feminism equal rights. Leia depended on Han, she wasn't truly independent. Funny how that shit works.
I mean, I'm gladly open to discussion, but I don't deal with vitriol. Not worth my time.

I'm just pointing out a slight bit of clickbait used from 2 specific channels (2 channels that I actually watch all the time and love) and explaining why they shouldn't do it in the future, and I am disregarding what Marcia Lucas said about the sequel trilogy entirely.

But you're coming here with a whole rant about these people wanting to feel better about themselves and wanting to "feel like connoisseurs" by criticizing movies. You're coming here venting about how people hate strong independent women in movies just because they exist. You're coming here assuming that the audience wants "cheap thrills" and a "skywalker-high".

You're saying all of that because I pointed out some YouTube clickbait thumbnails. None of the things you mentioned showed up in my meme.

Who's the one with confirmation bias again?

I think you misunderstand.

The reason they put George Lucas up there, was for the sole purpose of click bait. It's what people want to see. I then commented on the psychological profile of those that seek this sort of content, then reflected on how they're blind to their own hypocrisy; I'm agreeing with you.

I know you're agreeing with me. It's pretty blatant from your comment that you agreed that this was clickbait.

But I didn't bring up the audience at all. All I am doing is pointing out the clickbait that these 2 channels have done on one of their videos.
I didn't bring up the audience's hates and wants, the audience's past expectations from the sequel trilogy, or the audience's supposed gripes about strong, "independent" women.

That was all you.

Of course it was. I didn't say it was you at all. If that was the implication, I apologize. True, my commentary was unsolicited. But the whole point of communicating is not for simply to echo in agreement. But to share ideas with likeminded people. It wasn't ideas to be shared solely to you, but I was speaking to an open audience. My communication thusly was to convey information about a topic I happen to know a lot about and have been doing a lot reading on the matter, and am actually preparing a podcast to discuss the multitude of issues surrounding the sequel trilogy and the fan base that hates it.

You're right, it was all me that brought this info out.
It just wasn't all about you.

The whole point of communicating is not for simply to echo in agreement. But to share ideas with likeminded people. Yes, that makes sense.

The point is not also to go above and beyond the subject matter, especially immediately in the first comment.
Because when you bring up feminism, toxic fandoms, and a retrospect of the sequel trilogy's disappointment with the fans, when all I mentioned was 2 clickbait thumbnails on YouTube and voluntarily disregarded any opinion those two videos might have, it really does come across as you artificially pushing it into the conversation.

Also, the fact that we both recognize this as clickbait does very little to show how "likeminded" we are.

It still is the subject matter.

Meme talks about a false advertisement.

I talk about how the advertisement is for,

I talk about what they are

Which leads me to my conclusion of why this thumbnail was created. Granted, it was inferred, I didn't come out and say it. But, I didn't think I'd have to spell it out.

I'm done with this conversation. I make no apology for what I said, I stand by it, and I didn't want to copy your meme and add the commentary on it. As anyone who would click would be interested to see what people are saying about it. This is what I am saying. If people want to comment on it, they can. You don't own the parameters for conversation on this meme. It's an open forum.

Which makes me think you were looking for an excuse to say all of this stuff in the first place.
