That it didn’t turn out to be a complete disaster doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous. Just because a little kid doesn’t burn the house down doesn’t mean you should let him play with matches.

Okay, I'm going to try to explain it once more. If this doesn't work, I'm giving up on educating an idiot. (And it's less than 1.6%, by the way.)

Just because *this time* was not a world-ending disaster does not mean that conducting this research is a good idea. If you drive on the highway a few times with your eyes closed for 15 seconds at a stretch and live, that doesn't guarantee that the next time won't kill you and several others.

I fail to see how it can EVER be a world ending disaster if 1.6% mortality rate (I’m willing to go plus or minus a few tenths of a percent) isn’t “world ending.”

Even if it were 1%, that’s still 3 million American dead. Clearly there is no way anything could ever be world ending.
