Keep On Smilin'

On the day I was born, a black cloud's in the sky.
The doctor went to slap me, 'stead he punched me in the eye.
I didn't cry. I just keep on smilin'.
On the first day of school, met the girl of my dreams,
Until she ran off with the football team.
I didn't scream. I just keep on smilin'.
So I packed up my bags and waved good-bye to home.
Don't know why I was waving 'cause I lived alone.
I didn't moan. I just keep on smilin'.
Then I got drafted. It was World War III.
Next thing I know the Sarge is shooting at me.
I didn't flee. I just keep on smilin'.
On the day Daddy died, the undertaker came 'round.
But instead of Daddy, they put me in the ground.
I didn't get down. I just keep on smilin'.
Nothin' can stop you 'cept taxes and death,
Guns, love and police and really bad breath.
You may fall down and never get up.
You may even get hit by an 18-wheel truck.
Just remember: when things really suck,
Keep on smilin'.
Then one night, I turned gray.
By the next morning, I'd passed away.
What can I say? I didn't decay.
I just keep on smilin'.
