While going through deconstructing, the idea of heaven broke my heart the most. Since I was a baby I was told that heaven is real. That one day I will be able to reunite with my lost loved ones. This is what I looked forward to the most. Being an obedient (key word, notice nothing about being a good person) Christian so that I can see my loved ones again. It is so much more painful feeding me this lie rather than telling me from the start that we don’t know what happens after death.

Then, why is our how legal system a thing? The threat of punishment, jail, which may be eternal for some, is used in our country? We are given this incentive to be a good person, and not act like a fool. This statement makes no sense, because the U.S. government and many other countries use this same philosophy.
The rules are there because they must be set, as a religion wants someone to act a certain way. The eternal punishment has to be there because if it wasn't there, while would anybody act they way the religion wants to act. Yes, they probably wouldn't be a good person without their religious guidelines, but nobody would be a good person at all without any type of guidelines.

even with these incentives, it is immpossible for us as humans to become good. That is why God, in His great mercy, sent His son Jesus to take our punishment for us so that we don't have to live up to His humanly impossible standard to get to heaven. All we have to do is accept His sacrifice.
