I remember back in the 90's the left was running campaigns against censorship. No one was censoring them but for some reason they thought they were being censored. What happened was Rush Limbaugh got an AM radio show that went nationwide and the left thought that was censoring them. Because 1 3 hour broadcast on AM radio prevented a leftist from speaking during that 3 hour block on that same AM radio station. Never mind the left dominated every other possible means of disseminating information back then.
So they ran ads on MTV saying "Censorship is Un-American". Those same leftists have grown up and are now running the big social media websites where apparently censorship is now 100% American.
