First of all, a little more than 491,500 units went into Afghanistan. Recent studies show that only about 33,000 of those units experienced homelessness. Which means only about 16 percent of the units who came home actually went homeless. Not only that but if we divide the 33,000 total troops that went homeless, and divide it by 20, only about 1650 of them became homeless every year. About 10,000 total vets every single year go homeless. If we take that total and the total of Afghan vets, the Afghan vets total to only about 16 percent of all homeless troops. Meaning that it’s not even that large of a scale for the homeless vets. Second of all, people in Afghanistan were being treated so much worse than homeless people anyways. Especially the women. Women would have acid thrown in their faces, and be treated like garbage. People were killed and beaten all the time, and there was nothing they could do about it. If those afghans had a choice between being homeless in America, and staying in Afghanistan, they would by far choose america. Because they have a chance at redeeming theirselves if they came here. They can start out with jobs like cleaning, or waiting, because in Afghanistan they didn’t even have chances. They will be able to live true lives in America, even if it’s just on minimum wage. So overall that Kermit meme you just posted is inaccurate and just straight out conservative stupidity.
