Proposed ground rules for the impeachment trial of IG. To be approved by the Owners of PRESIDENTS if agreeable. | TRIAL RULES:; (1) One attorney for the Prosecution and one attorney for the Defense shall both have 48 hours to speak openly on any issue in the case; (2) The judges in this case are the Owners of PRESIDENTS. To ensure an orderly trial, all objections or appeals must be made to them; (4) IncognitoGuy has pled the Fifth, ergo he cannot speak at the trial and he must not attempt to influence jurors in any way; (4) After the trial is complete, a separate meme will be made where the jurors vote. | image tagged in jury, impeach, the, incognito, guy, impeach ig | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Additional rule:

(5) No witnesses will be called at trial since the depositions of everyone necessary to the case (minus IG, who pled the Fifth) have already been completed. There is no need to make them re-testify and say all the same things over again. We can simply link the deposition transcripts. The trial itself shall simply consist of statements by the prosecution and defense lawyer about the evidence.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the withdrawal of IG's lawyer Lardar from the case, IG has chosen to represent himself. Ergo, he will be allowed to speak in his own defense even though he hasn't given testimony under oath.

The rule about me not speaking is unfair because I'm usually the one who gathers Congressmen to vote on bills through memechat, and I can gather them to vote on the impeachment too. Plus I only pled the Fifth to avoid some interrogation with questions Pollard already answered. If I'm not allowed to speak at the trial then I no longer plea the Fifth amendment. If that means you then have to interrogate me, then I object to these proposed ground rules.

I’m not sure why HoC Pollard or anyone else on Team RUP (or anyone else, period) can’t gather the same people as you. But in the interests of compromise, if you think they can’t be reached any other way then simply linking them the meme will not be considered violating your Fifth Amendment plea.

If you want to speak openly in court, however, we’re gonna have a problem. That’s not how the Fifth Amendment works. If you testify in your own favor then you become subject to cross-examination. You can’t use the Fifth as both a shield and a sword.

I’m not sure where you got the idea all the questions to you would be the same as the questions to Pollard. With him, I was getting general background info. With you, I’d be getting into specific examples and much more detail. Team RUP seems to think Pollard’s deposition was especially difficult, but it was actually medium difficulty.

You may withdraw your Fifth Amendment plea if you wish — however, in the interests of getting this trial over that would set us backwards.

Oh, and I think we're ready to pick the jury

although I admittedly don't know where the set of rules we're using for that is....

I guess it doesn't really matter it being an impeachment and all

who's the defendant's attorney?

Last I heard it was Lardar, who hasn’t been online in 4 days.

You’ll have to ask IG if he wants to stick with him or sub someone else in. I bet F1Fan would do it. Pollard shouldn’t since he was a witness.

"...nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself..."

He can choose not to witness against himself, never says he can't witness for himself
It's in the constitution, and that's what it says

Ok I agree to your compromise about me just linking them to the voting meme. I was asking because I'm the only one who can memechat such a large portion of Congressmen (thanks to my days as HOC).

Additional rule:

(6) Jurors must remain silent during the trial. They will have an opportunity to debate the evidence and arguments after trial and prior to voting.
