Having this Congress run by a bunch of afk folks who barely ever visit here and were chosen on the basis of loyalty or ideology isn’t sustainable. Parliament gives the power back to the Parties.

But no, not particularly, I just think this fixes an issue I’ve seen with the way Congress is filled.

This term has revealed some glaring gaps between Congress and the stream’s wishes. The big issues are the Bank (voted down, though 95+% of streamers approve) and IG’s impeachment (expected to fail, though 90+% of streamers disapprove his job performance.)

Much of Congress plainly doesn’t answer to the people and isn’t even here on a regular basis. This is because RUP (winning Party) got to choose the lion’s share of Congress seats all on their own.

Parliament would fix that.

How it works: We expand Congress from 15 to 20 seats. Then any Party that wins at least 5% of the vote would get to send a representative to Parliament.

Here’s the key: Parties have total control over who they send. So assume an election result like this:

NERD — 50%
RUP — 30%
HCP — 20%

NERD would fill 50% (10) of the seats. RUP would fill 6 seats. And HCP would fill 4 seats.

But NERD would not have the ability to control who’s appointed to the 50% of the seats it didn’t win.

This is a recipe for dynamic democratic roleplay where the winner doesn’t take all!

Thing is, we have to win in order to implement this. So I offer this deal to any Party interested in implementing Parliament:

You can vote NERD while registering your voters independently under HCP, CommonSense, Pepe, or any other Party. After the election, we’ll distribute seats back to your Party in accordance with your vote share.

So vote Randomness for HOC and sloth-/Jemy for Prez/VP!
