Really? Because from the perspective of us on the right it's Authoritarian Left.

Maybe...just maybe...America's political system is working mostly as intended? Politics are turbulent now, yes, but the system itself is holding up fine.

No, we don't have many actual socialists. We do have a left though.

Dude, I know you're just using the global political spectrum to make this point, and by those standards you may not be wrong. But if you're going to talk about American politics, you have to take the American political climate into account and make it your norm. We have a left. For better or for worse, it's quite powerful.

Compare the Democratic Party to the leftist parties of Europe and see whether the former is authleft, or even left at all.

America and Europe are not comparable in that sense. Sheesh.

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.
