It would be such a massive improvement over what we have now on so many levels.
The way it is now is functionally equivalent to winner-take-all. There are small gestures toward giving the runners-up seats in Congress, but they don’t really get much of a say at the end of the day.
With Parliament, Parties get to choose their *own* representatives. They’re not dependent on the ruling party. They get exactly as much power as they earned in the election.
This means smaller parties are encouraged to stay in rather than drop out and endorse someone else. Really encourages multiparty democracy. Otherwise, the pressures are strong toward a two-party system.
