Let’s get the ball rolling on the newest branch of government: the Senate

I'll represent the My Little Pony stream. (That has over 100 followers I think.)
I already have permission from one of the owners. Lol.

Man oh man. 1200+ follower stream. Chock full of talented, compassionate memers. Maybe give this one two Senate seats — at least.

Whoever gets Senate from this stream is gonna have their work cut out for them, given certain — ahem — divides that might exist between the LGBTQ community and PRESIDENTS. Wouldn’t know anything about that. Just spitballin’.

Gotta think hard about how to integrate this one.

I will be representing the conservatives stream as Senator until the October election. We plan to hold elections for conservatives stream Senator at the end of October at the same time as the main election here.

There should be some baseline requirements
At least 100 followers (or something like that)
Active
Must hold an election of some sort for the position so that it's just not someone using this as an excuse to be part of senate without actually involving the stream

I think it would be pretty hard to organize elections across all the different streams. I think conservatives can pull it off since RUP, HCP, and CSP members as well as independents already participate there, but not every stream has that advantage. I would say that elections are preferred, but an appointment by an owner is also an option if they prove too difficult to organize.

I think a stream follower requirement would be a good idea. And yeah they need to be active streams. 100 however does seem to be a little steep, 50 or even 25 would be a more reasonable requirement.

It would depend on the stream. Like maybe a stream decides they just want to let the mods vote on who it should, that would still fall under "election of some sort". I really just don't want the owners picking themselves every time.

So if N.E.R.D. loses the election, either myself or Randomness would be good slots to fill a PoliticsTOO Senate seat.

If N.E.R.D. wins, likely candidates for the seat would be UnoReverse or even RMK(!) (yup he’s a PoliticsTOO guy too, unless he’s gonna be Senate for crusader_stream which could definitely happen)

There are all sorts of other memers on our stream, but not many who give a fig about PRESIDENTS.

Everyones_A_Mod is currently looking for recruits to become their Senator, there will be a Strawpoll vote to see which recruit wins. Must be at least semi active in the stream and follow it as well.

Let’s just get this out of the way: These streams may have 500-700+ followers, or whatever they have, but they just ain’t gonna be on Senate here for very obvious reasons. Not least that calling out the “Senator from booty” might be funny once or twice (actually, I am dying of laughter over here), but in the long term would be… problematic.
