Trump’s first impeachment had, what, about a 50% approval rating among the general public? His second impeachment, probably more than that. But neither time was he removed. Because the bar to clear is 2/3 of the Senate. That’s a huge hurdle.
But! IG’s impeachment is polling at about 90% among people who actually visit this stream regularly and vote in straw polls. That’s well over 2/3, so then the question just becomes does Congress actually listen to the people and look at evidence?
If Congress pays any attention to opinion polls here, they’ll vote to remove IG so that they have a fighting chance of keeping their jobs after October’s election.
If they don’t, and they’re just partisan hacks who won’t look at evidence or polls and will just say “I acquit” for anything, then yeah. They’ll be writing their own resignations. :)
