It is! It's a real phenomenon where someone or something freezes so fast that it will stay in place even though it's meant to fall, for example, some deer get their antlers stuck and then freeze standing up.

It would be more believable if the snow was deeper keeping his knees from buckling. Lots of weird things happened in WW II LIKE A BOMBER B 17 plane landing itself at an airfield with out a crew on board
