Thanks. Estimates are our friends. IRL, we rarely need to be really precise.
My favorite: A square room's diagonal measurement is about 1.4 times as long as a side. A bit less than 1½, it helps with planning furniture placement. It also works on rectangles, but you have to average the a short and long side first. But something tells me you already knew that.
