“Slothism” is all “fake money,” but that’s no different than any non-gold standard system. Non-gold systems are the standard these days in modern economies.
(Frankly, even gold standard systems are ultimately controlled by the government, since the government gets to decide to require the central bank to tether any currency it issues to gold reserves.)
Cryptocurrency is an interesting new attempt to create financial systems that bypass the government entirely. However, there have been a lot of bubbles, instability, theft, loss, and predation in these various cryptocurrencies and it’s really like the Wild West out there. Crypto isn’t the currency of the future — it’s at best, the gold of the future. A niche investment product for the most part. A way to purchase sketchy things online, make a quick buck or lose it all.
I am afraid there’s no escaping the fact that government is an integral part of currency and the economy generally.
