Although i am no fan of being stung by either wasp or hornet, they do provide a service, that is, apart from being early pollinators, they also eat caterpillars and aphids and other insects like spiders, flies, crane flies, and beetles. They do their part in insect control. And quite possibly, without a fig wasp you wouldn't have fig newtons.
