George Washington did in Valley Forge. And when I was in, we got shots based on our health records. There wasn't a choice.

Right. And all branches mandated COVID shots three weeks ago. I just didn't know if I was getting your point or not.

Ah, well sure. But that doesn't mean we should limit ourselves to blanket yes/no answers as to how and when mandates should be implemented. I do think it's perfectly reasonable (and necessary) for the military to require them.
