Communism is global in scope and the stated goal is to unite the world in a communist system. Fascism is not. The goal of fascism is to put the Nation on steroids (hence the "national" in "national socialist"). If your country ends up dominated the globe through colonialism and conflict, then so be it, but only because other Nations were weaker, not because it was the stated goal to be a global power - indeed, most fascists are isolationist by nature.
That is a critical difference at the core of the definition of what these ideologies believe. You NEED to understand it if you're spending any time studying them at all.
