Wisp: "another sentient creature? thats new to me"

*the protogen frequently looks back behind them, despite how well equipped they are, they don’t use their technology to scan their surroundings, they keep going further up the volcano*

*he starts walking casually up to them, at an oddly fast pace* "hey there! can you help me?"

*They look back at them again, they have a worried expression on their face, they eventually sigh and turn their back to the path, they nod yes*

???: yes I can help, what do you need?

"I, uh woke up in a lab somewhere and found this suit. but what happened to all this?" *he gestures over the land*

???: what do you mean? This forest has always been there? Let’s start with this, where are you from?

"I don't know, and you're the first talking thing ive seen since I woke up"

???: that can’t be right, the forest was teaming with life, I can see it from even here. *a flock of birds just flew up out of the forest, they appear to be in distress* Looks like we’ve run out of time for chit chat, come on! *they grab Wisp’s hand and starts leading them up the volcano*

"talking."

*they continue leading them up the volcano*

???: anyways what’s your name?

"wisp, whats yours?"

Ruby: my name is Ruby *she looks back and starts running while tugging on Wisp’s arm, pulling him even further up the volcano*

"where are we going?"

Ruby: the top, your kind of a liability. Your suit can handle being thrown in lava right, or at the very least handle the heat from being near it?

"yeah, probably. "

Ruby: anyways, we’re running away from some people. There is a cave near where we meet the surface of the lava. I can hold you but this is mostly to fool them, I don’t know of any entrances and exits other than this one right up here.

"alright then."

*they make it to the Louth of the volcano*

Ruby: you know what I’ll just hold you *she grabs Wisp and jumps down, she pans on the lava, she stays at the surface, she runs towards the cave opening liner her feat are on solid ground*

*wisp is launched forward from the force and falls headfirst onto the ground*

Ruby: woah wait, you almost burned yourself. *she steps into the cave opening, just as they both hear engines approaching the top of the volcano*

*he gets up and there is a large chunk of his helmet gone* "im okay, don't worry!"

*Ruby is shaking her head*

*from inside the cave you guys spot what looks like to be people dressed in lab coats*

"oh thats bad"

Ruby: not that bad if it’s this particular group. G Labs or Galactic Laboratories has been chasing me and a few friends down. They’ve done, or attempted to do, way worse than just recapture me and some of my friends, or capture new “test subjects.”

"oh, thats a thing" *some blue smoke seems to be leaking from the crack on his helmet*

Ruby: is your helmet alright? Also move further in.

"ok. and im fine"

Ruby: I can hear them from here, make sure nothing else is down here with us.

*he walks deeper in and looks around* "it seems good"

*several galactic labs scientists walk towards them*

GL scientist C: this cave has other entrances you know.

Ruby: I figured you wouldn’t take the chance.

"these the bad guys?"

Ruby: that would really depend on your point of view.

GL scientist C: we aren’t bad, we’re trying to make the world a better place.

Ruby: with new tanks and futuristic weapons, come on GL. I’ve lived in your go***amn facility for a while, aren’t you forgetting that?

GL scientist C: no, we aren’t, if you come with us willingly I may be able to get our new boss to give you better conditions than you’ve already had.

Ruby: you expect me to fall for that now huh?

"oh these are the people delusioned into thinking they're good but torture people"

Ruby: kind of like that.

GL scientist C: I’ll admit some of our policies are questionable, I’ve questioned them myself. However this is a new era, and we want you to be apart of it. Also we rarely torture people if at all, I’ve never heard of this team actually torturing people.

Ruby: take one good look at me, I received better treatment than anyone else because I listened and knew what I was capable of, I saw what you did to Void, they were scared to do almost anything and I saw how you treated her.

GL scientist C: Void? I know nothing of Void, perhaps a veteran working at the Antarctic facility would know why she was treated so harshly though.

GL scientist D: this is taking too long. *he pulls out a gun and aims at Wisp*

"try me"

Shadow: Oh, hey! *he ran up to them*

???: *a little spooked, they look worried*

Shadow: Uh, you okay?

???: yeah I’m fine…

*a flock of birds flies up above the trees as if startled by something*

*the protogen looks afraid, they grab shadows arm and start leading them up the volcano*

Shadow: Woah-uh, can you at least tell me your name-

Ruby: my name is Ruby, yours?

Shadow: Shadow, and why are you grabbing my arm?

Ruby: I’ll explain later.

*you both hear the engines of some large vehicles, if Shadow looked back they would see some people wearing lab coats*

Shadow: Huh? *he looked back* There's pharmacists behind us.

Ruby: yeah, I know, they look dumb but they have some good tech, and their after me, they’ll probably capture you as well if they find you. How well can you handle heat by the way?

Shadow: I like heat. Depends on how much.

Ruby: You like lava?

Shadow: Uh, not that hot. Heh.

Ruby: can you tolerate it for several seconds? *they are running up the side of the volcano now*

Shadow: I guess we'll find out.

*they are at the the top now*

*they look back to find several trucks and what looks like to be some futuristic tank*

Ruby: damn they really upgraded from when the world declared them outlaws. Can I hold you? For several seconds? I just need a long enough time to get to there. *she points to a cave that has an opening near the lava*

Shadow: Uh, sure. *he blushed a tiny bit, looked at the tank, then back at her*

*Ruby picks up Shadow and jumps down into the mouth of the volcano, she lands on the lava as if if it were solid ground and starts running towards the cave with Shadow in her arms, within 20 seconds she was inside the cave opening, she moves a little further inside and sets shadow down*

Shadow: Well, I think my brain melted. *he got up* Thanks for that, though.

Ruby: no problem, that was just assuming they would make you go with them as well. I’m their main target rn, or at least this team’s main target, I heard their leaving my friend Ember alone though, well for now at least.

*Ruby puts her hand on the cave wall*

Shadow: Well, that's good to hear. Well, if we ever need to face them. I have a sword. *he checked his back, realizing it wasn't there* Which I have misplaced.

Ruby: we’re probably fine. *they pull out a small container with what looks like to be magma or lava* I have these anyways. Their the ones who have ‘em too me.

Shadow: Why do you got lava in a jar?

Ruby: uh…. *Ruby looks like she’s thinking about something*

Ruby: you know what, sure I’ll show you. *she opens the container, the lava shifts into a sword shape* I can manipulate lava, magma, whatever you want to call it.

Shadow: Oh, that's kinda like my powers. I can control shadows. And I can move into this other realm called The Shadow Realm. It's very peaceful. I can take you there, if you want.

Ruby: I know a place called the shadow realm as well, but it’s probably much different than yours… I’ll go check to see if they reached the top yet. *she heads back towards the cave entrance*

Shadow: *he decided to follow her*

*Ruby watches several people in lab coats direct tanks all the way around the mouth of the volcano*

Ruby: what a waste of money and material, you could have made those with with remote control capabilities and sold those to every government and made more than a fortune, yet here you are hunting down one of your own “test subjects.” I’m tired of your shenanigans Galactic Labs, even if it does cure my boredom.

Shadow: You're a test subject? Is that how you got your powers?

Ruby: well not really, no. By test subject they really mean “entity we might be able to use to better ourselves by testing different technology on them and how well they can handle stress before we use them to summon an even more powerful entity capable of ripping apart the universe before putting it back together.”

Shadow: Oh. Also, sorry if this sounds weird, but where do protogens come from?

Ruby: from my current knowledge, primagens made us for space exploration or something

Shadow: Primagens? Uh, nevermind. So, while we're here, waiting...I guess. Why don't you tell me about yourself?

Ruby: I have no idea how I have many of the abilities I have I guess. I like warm places, it’s funny because sometimes I like to actually swim in lava.

Shadow: Heh...I'm an orphan.

Ruby: oof… that sucks… I wish Sapphire was here, with her and I together we could actually fight Galactic Labs up there and stand a chance.

Shadow: I could stand a chance. Maybe.

*several galactic labs scientists had wanders in to the cave through another entrance and were walking towards them*

GL scientist C: this cave has other entrances you know.

Ruby: I figured you wouldn’t take the chance.

Shadow: *he looked at them* If I had my Katana, you all would be dead.

*one of them pulled out a pistol and aimed at Shadow*

GL scientist D: we’re not here for you, but since your here we might as well take you as well.

GL scientist C: no. We are just here for Ruby and I intend to do this without weapons, thank you very much, stand down.

GL scientist D: fine.

GL scientist E: I will not however. *they pull out their gun* We were ordered to capture experiment-002 and anyone helping her to avoid us. We have someone helping her right here.

Ruby: I have a name.

GL scientist E: new CEO, new policy.

Shadow: *he hissed at them*

*Ruby was holding one of the small containers of lava behind her back now so they couldn’t see it*

GL scientist C: what are you doing?

GL scientist E: following orders.

*GL scientist E takes aim at Scientist C and fires just as the gun gets knocked out of his hand, the bullet ricocheted off one of the cave walls and went down further into the cave, Ruby had used some of the lava from the container to knock the gun out of the scientist’s hand and render it unusable*

Shadow: So we're using powers now, got it.

Ruby: uh… no, just stoping a mutiny…

Scientist C: you have my thanks, but I still must ask you to go with them, from now on I’m no longer a field agent. *they turn around to leave the cave, however Scientist D points a gun at them now*

GL scientist D: your gonna be detained before we let you go.

Scientist C: that I’m fine with, I don’t want to die.

GL scientist D: so are you by the way.

GL scientist E: they weren’t following orders!

GL scientist D: what you did is not tolerated, punishments will be handed out when we get back to base.

Ruby: *whispering to shadow* I think this is our chance, back out the way we came.

Shadow: Yeah, let's go.

*the two of them slowly back out towards the cave they entered, Ruby does a scan of the area but there are a lot more agents at the top of the Volcano than in the cave*

Ruby: never mind go back

Shadow: Alright. So, do we take em all out?

Ruby: no but I have an idea. The ones that just came through the cave are leaving, there are several exits to the cave other than this one that are not being patrolled, no GL personnel there. So just follow me.

Shadow: Alright.

*Ruby leads them through the cave, occasionally stopping to avoid GL scientists, at last the make it out of the cave, it’s almost nightfall, Ruby continues into the forest until she feels they are safe and far away enough from the Volcano*

Shadow: Thanks. Again.

Ruby: no problem

Shadow: Uh-*he gave them a small hug,

*Ruby decides to return the gesture before waving goodbye and leaving*
