Newer plant designs are 1/10th the size of older plants, 1/3 the power and inherently safe. Provide power 24/7. Something that wind and solar do not do so that makes them worthless when power reaches peak, no wind, no sun and incredible power that new plants can provide 10 years without stopping. Oh, and no carbon emissions for all Global Warming believers. Exactly, we should fund traveling wave reactor R&D since they:
A) Can use nuclear waste to run
B) Have an almost 0% chance of catastrophic meltdowns.

Oak Ridge TN is putting a few modular reactors. 1/10th the size, 1/3 the power and gives continuous power 24/7. Inherently safe.
